I am incredibly excited to reveal this new project to all of you today. The STEAM Ed App has arrived in the Apple Store and Android App Market and can be downloaded APRIL 10th! We are thrilled to bring you this new product at the low, low cost of $2.99. Here’s the skinny:
The STEAM Ed App is a supplement to our hugely popular STEAM Point Book (thank you so much for your support of this book!). Given the sales trends of the book, we knew that this was something that educators where hungry for and we wanted to give them the ability to use what they learn in the book, as well as the resources anytime, anywhere. To do this, we just had to go mobile. The STEAM Ed App contains the following features:
- Common Core Reading and Writing Anchor Standards, Math Practices and a sample of each of the Math Standards mapped to naturally-aligned Fine Arts Standards and STEM Practices (as provided by the State of Maryland). Plus, a lesson thread for each standard.
- Sample lesson seeds that you can download right to your mobile device in PDF form.
- Formative assessment strategies that you can use immediately with any lesson you may be doing.
- Portfolio and Performance Assessments that you can score right from your mobile device and enter into your gradebook.
All of the items on the app correspond to what is in the book, so it’s like taking a mobile version of the book with you wherever you go. There are also a few new items in the app and some items that we left for the book-version only because they just didn’t transfer well to mobile functionality. If you haven’t purchased the book, this is a great app to use on its own with the outstanding content featured in the paper version. Essentially, the book shows you HOW and WHY and the app gives you the tools to DO the work.
We set out to save you time during your planning time to actually craft some great lessons, rather than stress over finding the aligned standards and quality assessments.
