Micro-Credentials

Meaningful professional development for K-12 educators that is personalized, flexible, and hands-on.

What Are Micro-Credentials?

Micro-Credentials are like special learning adventures. They help you take the latest research about a topic and apply it in real-time inside your classroom.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You pick the skills or topics you want to learn based on your own goals or gaps.
  2. Then, you’ll create a short action-research project (typically 1 week long) to use in your classroom.
  3. Finally, you’ll record the data and submit your findings and reflections.

Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate for 50 PD hours and 5 CEUs.

Micro-Credentials focus totally on relevance: you’ll spend the majority of your time using what you’ve learned and creating a way to test it out inside your curriculum and with your own students. This isn’t just theory: you’re receiving credit for teaching with your new skillset.

Personalized and Flexible.

You can enroll in any Micro-Credential and start at any time. Everything is online and asynchronous. So you have total control and flexibility in your learning.

How are Micro-Credentials Different?

Think of a Micro-Credential like something in the middle of a course and a certificate.

A course is where you learn things from a book or a teacher. Certificates are for learning and then showing what you know.

Micro-Credentials are in-between. They help you get better at certain skills by trying them out in your class with your students. You can also stack Micro-Credentials over time to become an expert in that series.

Why Choose Micro-Credentials?

Micro-Credentials are a fantastic way for teachers to earn PD in a cost-effective and relevant way.

They let you try new things in your class and see what works.

You become an expert in your chosen topic, and you can prove it with data.

Accreditation, PD Hours, and CEUs

This program is fully accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training  (IACET). All Micro-Credential participants will receive 50 PD hours and 5 CEUS from The Institute for Arts Integration and STEAM upon successful completion of each Micro-Credential. These are often acceptable for re-licensure and salary advancement purposes.

Check to see if your state accepts our PD hours and CEUs.
