When embedding and integrating art and social justice in our classrooms, we offer students the opportunity to explore issues that are important to them. This builds on social-emotional learning, critical thinking, and reflective growth that are at the heart of 21st-century skill development. Importantly, using the arts for social justice can also raise awareness, build community, and provide gateways into respectful dialogue.
In this preview, Molly Foster shares her own experience with integrating art and social justice through a specific project. This collaborative process showcases how you can take steps to provide meaningful, hands-on learning for your students in a way that makes a real impact in your local community.
This workshop preview is part of our members-only Accelerator workshops. Each month, we release a stack of videos and worksheets to help educators bring inspiring new techniques into their classrooms. Each workshop also provides teachers with a certificate for 1 PD hour.
