Face Shield Topper Activity
Typical getting to know you strategies aren’t going to cut it this year. But it’s crucial for us to connect with and learn about our students: their interests, goals, and talents. This Face Shield Activity provides students with a choice board to select from as a way to share a bit about themselves while adhering to safe social practices. Use this template from the session.

Culturally Responsive Getting-to-Know-You Activities
It’s always a challenge to get to know each and every student at the beginning of the semester. And no matter how well we may deliver our lessons in the classroom, if we are not able to make relevant and meaningful connections, we have completely missed the mark. This workshop offers strategies for connecting with students in elementary and middle school using activities that meet them where they are right now.
In this preview, Linda Johnson shares a simple activity that students can do at home or in class to personalize their face coverings. While this session is geared towards early elementary students, you could easily adapt this for middle and high school students as a getting-to-know-you exercise.
